Z-Stone / Prophecy Stone

Physical Information

Prophecy Stone is a heavy, dark brown stone from the White Desert of Egypt. It is also sold under the name Z-Stone. It is a pseudomorph: the stone started as an iron sulphide such as marcasite, and over a very long time iron oxides like limonite, goethite and hematite replaced it while keeping the original shape.

The result is a rough, rusty-brown to almost black stone, often with small bumps or crystal shapes on the surface. It feels heavy in the hand because of its high iron content. Keep it dry, because moisture can leave rust-coloured marks. A dry brush is enough to clean it.

Prophecy Stone is known as a stone of inner vision. Its name comes from the belief that it can help people sense what lies ahead and understand their path more clearly. Many people use it in meditation to feel both grounded and spiritually open.
