Physical Information
Meteorites are fragments of asteroids that survived their fiery journey through the Earth's atmosphere. Many of them are around 4.5 billion years old – as old as the solar system itself – which makes them some of the oldest material you can ever hold in your hand.
There are three main types: stony, stony-iron and iron meteorites. Iron meteorites are made mostly of iron and nickel, which is why they are heavy and attracted to a magnet. When cut, polished and etched, many of them reveal a beautiful criss-cross structure called the Widmanstätten pattern, which forms only when metal cools extremely slowly inside an asteroid over millions of years – it cannot be recreated on Earth. Our pendants are made from Altai meteorite, an iron meteorite from the Altai region of Central Asia. Keep iron meteorites dry, as moisture can cause rust spots.
Metaphysical Properties
Meteorite is often called a stone of the cosmos. Because it has travelled from space to Earth, it is believed to connect the physical world with the universe, supporting spiritual awakening, big life changes and a sense of purpose. At the same time its heavy iron energy is strongly grounding.
It is associated with the root and crown chakras, and many people wear it for courage, focus and inner strength during times of transformation.
