Yooperlite
Physical Information
Yooperlite is a trade name for grey syenite stones rich in fluorescent sodalite. In normal light, they look like ordinary grey, speckled beach stones. Under a UV torch, the sodalite glows bright orange and yellow, like glowing embers. The stones were made famous in 2017 by a rock hunter on the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan, USA. The name comes from "Yooper", a local nickname for people from Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Syenite is a granite-like rock made mostly of feldspar. It is hard and durable, so Yooperlite is easy to care for. For the best glow, use a longwave (365 nm) UV torch in a dark room, and never shine UV light into your eyes.

Yooperlite is known as a stone of hidden light. Because its glow only appears in the dark, it is believed to help people find their inner light in difficult times. Many people use it as a reminder that beauty can be hidden in ordinary places.
