Strawberry Quartz

Physical Information

Strawberry Quartz is a pink to reddish quartz. Its colour and gentle sparkle come from tiny inclusions, often of iron minerals such as hematite or goethite. Natural pieces are usually soft pink with visible specks, dots or fine threads inside, and every piece is a little different.

Natural strawberry quartz is fairly rare. Sources include Brazil, Mexico and Russia. Many bright, evenly coloured stones sold as “strawberry quartz” or “cherry quartz” are in fact man-made glass. Real strawberry quartz shows natural inclusions and is not perfectly even in colour. With a hardness of 7, it is easy to care for.
