Shattuckite

Physical Information

Shattuckite is a rare copper silicate mineral. It is deep blue to blue-green and often grows together with other copper minerals such as chrysocolla, malachite and azurite, and with quartz. This mix creates swirling patterns in many shades of blue.

It was first described from the Shattuck mine in Arizona, USA, which gave it its name. Today much of it comes from Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Shattuckite itself is soft (about 3.5), so keep it away from harder stones, avoid long soaking in water and clean it with a soft, dry cloth.

Metaphysical Properties

Shattuckite is known as a stone of truth and inner wisdom. It is believed to support honest, clear communication and to deepen intuition. Many people use it in meditation or before important conversations, when they want to express themselves with authenticity.

It is associated with the throat chakra and the third eye chakra. People like to hold it while journaling or meditating, when they want calm, clarity and a feeling of being guided from within.
