Seraphinite
Physical Information
Seraphinite is a variety of the mineral clinochlore, part of the chlorite group. It is found almost only in one place in the world: the Lake Baikal region of eastern Siberia, Russia. Its deep forest-green colour is crossed by silvery, feather-like patterns that shimmer and move as you turn the stone (an effect called chatoyancy).
These feather patterns gave the stone its name – they reminded people of the wings of the seraphim, the highest order of angels. Seraphinite is a soft stone (about 2–2.5 on the Mohs scale), so it is best kept away from scratches, water and harsh cleaning.
Metaphysical Properties
Seraphinite is known as an angelic healing stone. It is believed to bring gentle, uplifting energy, help release emotional pain and support self-love and self-acceptance. Many people use it in meditation to feel calm, protected and connected to their spiritual guides.
It is associated mainly with the heart chakra, and also with the crown chakra. Seraphinite is a lovely companion during times of recovery, grief or personal renewal.
