Rose Quartz

Physical Information

Rose Quartz is the pink variety of quartz. Its colour ranges from pale blush to deeper rosy pink and comes from microscopic, fibre-like inclusions inside the quartz. It is usually translucent and slightly cloudy, with a soft, glassy shine. Well-formed pink crystals are rare; most rose quartz is found as massive pieces.

Rose Quartz is found in many places, including Brazil, Madagascar, South Africa and India. It has a hardness of 7. Its colour can slowly fade in strong, direct sunlight, so it is best kept away from a sunny window. Clean it with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.

Metaphysical Properties

Rose Quartz is known as the stone of unconditional love. It is believed to open the heart to compassion, forgiveness and self-acceptance. Many people use it to support self-love, to be more gentle with themselves and to create a calm, loving atmosphere at home.
