Pietersite
Physical Information
Pietersite is a rare stone made of broken and re-cemented fragments of Tiger's Eye and Hawk's Eye (a so-called breccia). Instead of the straight bands seen in Tiger's Eye, its shimmering fibres run in all directions, creating swirling, stormy patterns of deep blue, gold, brown and grey that flash as the stone moves.
It was discovered in Namibia in 1962 by Sid Pieters, after whom it is named. A similar material has also been found in China. The Namibian deposit is very limited, which makes Pietersite a sought-after stone.
Metaphysical Properties
Pietersite is known as the “Tempest Stone”. Just as a storm clears the air, it is believed to help clear old patterns, bring clarity in chaotic times and give the courage to move forward. Many people use it during big changes to stay calm and centred.
It is associated with the third-eye and solar plexus chakras, and is often used to strengthen intuition, willpower and self-confidence.
