Nguni Jasper
Physical Information
Nguni Jasper is a colourful jasper from South Africa. Jasper is an opaque, fine-grained form of quartz, coloured by iron and other minerals. Nguni Jasper shows earthy tones of brown, red, orange, cream and grey in spotted, speckled or banded patterns.
It is named after the Nguni cattle of Southern Africa, whose beautiful patterned hides look similar to the stone. No two pieces are the same. With a hardness of about 6.5 to 7, it is durable and well suited for jewellery, palm stones and carvings. Clean it with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.
Metaphysical Properties
Nguni Jasper is known as a stone of strength and grounding. It is believed to bring stability and calm in uncertain times and to support perseverance and courage when facing challenges. Many people use it to feel steady and centred.
It is associated with the root chakra and the sacral chakra, which are linked to security and creativity. People also use it to feel closer to nature and to their roots, and to stay focused on long-term goals. It is a good companion for grounding meditations and walks outdoors.
