Mangano Calcite

Physical Information

Mangano Calcite is a pink form of calcite, a calcium carbonate mineral. Small amounts of manganese give it a soft, pastel pink to rose colour, often with white bands. Polished pieces look gently translucent and almost glowing. Under ultraviolet (UV) light, it often shines a bright pink, which makes it a favourite with collectors.

It is found in several countries, and Peru is one of the best-known sources. With a hardness of about 3, it is a soft stone that scratches easily. Keep it away from harder crystals, avoid acids and cleaning products, and clean it with a soft, dry cloth rather than soaking it in water.

Metaphysical Properties

Mangano Calcite is known as a stone of unconditional love. It is believed to encourage compassion, forgiveness and kindness towards yourself and others. Many people use it for self-love and to soften negative self-talk.

It is associated with the heart chakra. People use it to bring calm and peace in stressful times and to gently release grief or old emotional pain. It is a lovely stone for meditation, relaxation or a quiet corner at home, and a caring gift for someone who needs comfort.
