Lepidolite
Physical Information
Lepidolite is a lilac to purple mica mineral that is rich in lithium. Like all micas, it is made of very thin layers, which give it a soft, sparkling look. It is often found together with pink tourmaline, quartz and other minerals. It forms in pegmatites, which are rocks where large crystals grow slowly from mineral-rich magma.
Important sources include Brazil, Madagascar and the United States. Lepidolite is soft, about 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale, and its thin layers can flake. Handle it gently, do not soak it in water, and clean it with a soft, dry cloth.
Metaphysical Properties
Lepidolite is known as a stone of transition. It is believed to bring calm and emotional balance during times of change, such as a move, a new job or the end of a relationship. Many people use it when they feel overwhelmed and want to slow down and breathe.
It is associated with the heart chakra and the third eye chakra, which are linked to love and intuition. Many people hold a piece of lepidolite while taking a few deep breaths, or keep it on the bedside table as part of a calm evening routine. It is also a popular stone to carry during busy or uncertain days.
