Kambaba Jasper

Physical Information

Kambaba Jasper, also called Crocodile Jasper, is a dark green to black stone with round, eye-like patterns. These swirls and spots give it a reptile-skin look, which explains its nickname. Despite its name, it is not a classic jasper but a fine-grained rock. Its round patterns are commonly described as fossil stromatolites, layered structures made by very early algae-like life. Some geologists see them as mineral growths instead.

It comes mainly from Madagascar and South Africa. It is quite durable, so it works well for jewellery, palm stones and decorative pieces. Clean it with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.

Metaphysical Properties

Kambaba Jasper is known as a stone of calm and grounding. It is believed to soothe stress and worry and to bring a feeling of peace and stability, even in times of change. Many people use it in meditation and for relaxation.

It is associated with the heart chakra and with a deep connection to nature. Because of its link to ancient life, some people use it to connect with Earth wisdom and to support patience, growth and abundance. It is a lovely stone for anyone who loves plants, gardens and time outdoors.
