Isua Stone (Greenland)
Physical Information
Isua Stone comes from the Isua Greenstone Belt in south-west Greenland. The rocks in this area are among the oldest known on Earth, at around 3.7 billion years old. Scientists study them to learn how the early Earth, its first oceans and its crust formed.
Isua Stone is not one single mineral. It is a metamorphic rock, which means heat and pressure have changed it many times over its long history. Pieces sold under this name can vary in colour and pattern, often in dark green, grey or black tones. Because it is rare and comes from a remote area, it is mainly valued as a collector's stone.
Metaphysical Properties
Isua Stone is known as a stone of ancient Earth energy. Because of its great age, it is believed to bring deep grounding and stability. Many people see it as a symbol of transformation and personal growth, as the rock itself has changed so much over billions of years.
It is associated with the root chakra. People use it in meditation to feel connected to the natural world and to ancestral wisdom. Some also use it to support new beginnings, manifestation and patience during long periods of change.
