Hematoid Quartz

Physical Information

Hematoid Quartz is quartz with hematite inclusions. Hematite is an iron oxide mineral, and it gives the crystal a red, rusty or brownish colour. The hematite can appear as fine streaks, spots, patches or a coating inside the clear quartz. The contrast between the clear quartz and the warm red tones makes each piece unique.

It is sometimes also called Hematite Quartz or Fire Quartz. Like all quartz, it has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, so it is quite durable for jewellery and decorative pieces. Clean it with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.

Metaphysical Properties

Hematoid Quartz is known as a stone of grounding and balance. It is believed to combine the steady, protective energy of hematite with the clarity of quartz. Many people use it to release negative energy and to find emotional clarity.
