Dalmatian Jasper
Physical Information
Dalmatian jasper is a creamy white to light beige stone with black and dark brown spots, just like the coat of a Dalmatian dog. Despite its name, it is not a true jasper. It is an igneous rock made mostly of feldspar and quartz. The dark spots are small clusters of other minerals, such as arfvedsonite or black tourmaline.
It comes mainly from Mexico. It is fairly hard and durable, and every piece has its own unique pattern, so it is popular for beads, bracelets, tumbled stones and carvings. Clean it with a soft, damp cloth.
