Chrysanthemum Stone
Physical Information
Chrysanthemum stone is a dark rock with white or cream patterns that look like opening flowers. The “flowers” are radiating crystals, usually of celestine or calcite, which grew inside a dark grey or black limestone or clay rock. The contrast between the pale petals and the dark background makes every piece look like a natural painting.
It is best known from China, and it is also found in Japan and North America. The stone is fairly soft, so protect it from knocks and scratches. Clean it with a dry or slightly damp cloth, and avoid soaking it in water.
Metaphysical Properties
Chrysanthemum stone is known as a stone of blossoming. Like a flower that opens slowly, it is believed to encourage personal growth, patience and joy in the present moment. Many people use it to feel more positive and to trust their own timing in life.
It is associated with the root chakra and the crown chakra, linking grounding with inspiration. People often display a polished piece in the living room, or keep one nearby when they start a new project or a new season of life.
