Charoite
Physical Information
Charoite is a rare purple mineral with swirling patterns of lilac, violet and deep purple, often mixed with black, white or orange spots of other minerals. It is a complex silicate that contains calcium and potassium. Polished charoite has a silky shine and sometimes a soft, moving sheen.
Charoite is found in only one place in the world: near the Chara River in Siberia, Russia, which gave the stone its name. It was described as a new mineral in the 1970s. It is medium-hard (about 5–6 on the Mohs scale), so avoid knocks and clean it with a soft, damp cloth.
Metaphysical Properties
Charoite is known as a stone of transformation. It is believed to help people move through change with courage and to let go of old fears. Many people use it when they are going through a big life change or looking for deeper meaning.
It is associated with the crown chakra and the third eye chakra. People often keep it close during meditation, wear it as a pendant, or place it by the bed to support a calm mind and peaceful dreams.
