Candle Quartz
Physical Information
Candle quartz is a special growth form of quartz. A larger central crystal is covered with many small crystals that grow along its sides. Together they look like the wax that drips down a burning candle, which gave the stone its name. It is usually white, milky or clear, sometimes with a light yellow or brownish tint from iron.
Candle quartz is often found in Madagascar. It forms in cavities in rock where quartz grew in more than one stage. It is hard (7 on the Mohs scale), but the small side crystals can chip, so handle and store it with care. Dust it gently with a soft brush.
Metaphysical Properties
Candle quartz is known as a stone of inner light. It is believed to bring a warm, guiding energy, like a candle in a dark room. Many people use it during meditation or quiet reflection, when they are looking for direction or new ideas.
It is associated with the crown chakra. Some people place it in their meditation space or on a home altar, and some like to light a real candle next to it as a small evening ritual of calm and gratitude.
