Bumblebee Jasper

Physical Information

Bumblebee jasper is a bright stone with bands of yellow, orange, grey and black, like the stripes of a bumblebee. Despite its name, it is not a true jasper. It is a volcanic rock made mostly of calcite, coloured by minerals such as sulphur and other volcanic deposits. It forms near hot volcanic vents, where minerals settle layer by layer.

It comes from Indonesia, near the Papandayan volcano on Java. The stone is fairly soft and brittle, so most polished pieces are stabilised with resin. Because it can contain sulphur and arsenic minerals, do not put it in drinking water, and wash your hands after handling rough pieces.

Metaphysical Properties

Bumblebee jasper is known as a stone of joy and motivation. Its sunny colours are believed to bring cheerful, energising vibes. Many people use it when they need a boost of confidence or want to start a new creative project.

It is associated with the solar plexus chakra, the centre of personal power and self-esteem. People often keep it on the desk, carry it as a pocket stone, or place it in a bright room to invite positive energy into the day.
