Bronzite
Physical Information
Bronzite is a member of the pyroxene mineral group, an iron-bearing form of enstatite. It is brown to dark brown with golden, bronze-like flashes that shimmer when the stone is moved. This silky shine is called schiller. Polished pieces have a warm, earthy and elegant look.
Bronzite forms in igneous and metamorphic rocks. Sources include Austria, Brazil, India and the United States. It has a medium hardness of about 5–6, so it is best kept away from harder stones to avoid scratches. Clean it with a soft cloth.
