Botswana Agate

Physical Information

Botswana agate is a finely banded variety of agate, a form of chalcedony (fine-grained quartz). It is known for its soft, earthy colours: pink, peach, grey, brown and white. The thin, curved bands often form circles or eye-like patterns, so every piece is unique.

As its name says, it comes from Botswana, in southern Africa. It formed in cavities inside old volcanic rock, where silica-rich water slowly left layer after layer. It is hard (about 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale), polishes beautifully and is easy to care for.

Metaphysical Properties

Botswana agate is known as a stone of comfort and support. It is believed to bring a warm, stabilising energy, especially during times of change. Many people use it to feel more grounded and to accept themselves with more kindness.

It is associated with the root chakra and the sacral chakra. People often keep it close when they start something new, carry it as a pocket stone, or place it in the home to create a calm and friendly atmosphere.
