Apatite
Physical Information
Apatite is a phosphate mineral. It comes in blue, green, yellow, violet and teal, but bright blue apatite is the best known. It has a glassy shine and can be transparent to opaque. Its name comes from a Greek word meaning “to deceive”, because it is easily mistaken for other minerals.
Apatite forms in many kinds of rock. Sources include Madagascar, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and Russia; much of the blue apatite on the market comes from Madagascar. It is fairly soft (hardness 5), so keep it away from harder stones and clean it with a soft, damp cloth.
Metaphysical Properties
Apatite is known as a stone of inspiration. It is believed to spark motivation, support focus and help people move past self-doubt. Many people use it when learning something new, setting goals or starting a creative project.
It is associated with the throat chakra and the third eye chakra. People like to keep it at their workspace or wear it when they want to express themselves clearly, trust their ideas and stay connected to their purpose.
