Agni Manitite

Physical Information

Agni Manitite is a natural glass found on the island of Java in Indonesia. Its name joins two Sanskrit words, "agni" (fire) and "mani" (pearl or jewel), so it is often called the Pearl of Fire. It is usually dark brown to black, with a bubbly, pitted surface. When held up to strong light, thin edges can glow a warm brown or golden colour.

Its exact origin is still discussed. Some describe it as a tektite formed by a meteorite impact, while others see it as volcanic glass. Each piece has a unique natural shape, so it is usually sold in its raw form or set in simple jewellery. Handle it with some care, as glass can chip.

Metaphysical Properties

Agni Manitite is known as a stone of transformation. As its name suggests, it is linked to the element of fire. It is believed to bring inner strength, clarity and the courage to let go of what no longer serves you. Many people use it during meditation or at times when they want to make a fresh start.

It is associated with the solar plexus chakra, which is linked to willpower and personal energy, and is also said to work with the higher chakras. Many people hold a piece during quiet reflection, place it on an altar, or wear it as a pendant as a reminder of their own inner fire.
