Sunstone is admired for its warm golden, orange, or reddish tones and its shimmering reflective effect. Tiny metallic inclusions inside the stone catch the light, creating a sparkling appearance that gives Sunstone its radiant, sun-like character.

Because of its beautiful glow and vibrant colors, Sunstone is commonly used for polished stones, cabochons, beads, and jewelry pieces. Each specimen displays unique flashes of light depending on the angle and concentration of inclusions.

Sunstone is a variety of feldspar, most commonly oligoclase or labradorite feldspar. Its sparkling effect, known as aventurescence, is caused by tiny plate-like inclusions of copper or hematite. Well-known sources include Oregon (USA), India, Norway, and Tanzania. Oregon Sunstone is especially famous for its copper inclusions that create bright glittering flashes.
