Honeycomb Ruby (Man-Made)
Honeycomb Ruby is known for its distinctive cellular, honeycomb-like surface pattern and rich red to pinkish-red color. The repeating geometric texture gives the stone a bold, architectural appearance that clearly sets it apart from natural ruby varieties.
Because of its striking surface and durability, Honeycomb Ruby is commonly used for cabochons, beads, carvings, and decorative objects. Its consistent pattern and vibrant color make it especially popular for modern jewelry and design-focused pieces.
✨ Fact & Fun Fact:
Honeycomb Ruby is man-made corundum (aluminum oxide, Al₂O₃). The honeycomb pattern is created through industrial crystal growth, sintering, or surface etching processes and does not occur naturally in ruby. Although it shares the same chemical composition as natural ruby, it is not mined and not from Madagascar. Man-made corundum has been produced since the early 20th century and is widely used in jewelry and industrial applications.
