Fuchsite

Fuchsite is recognized for its bright to deep green color and its shimmering, mica-like surface. Its flaky, reflective texture gives the stone a lively appearance, often sparkling subtly when moved in the light.

Because of its distinctive look, Fuchsite is commonly used for polished stones, cabochons, carvings, and collector specimens. It is also frequently found as a matrix for other minerals, such as ruby, creating striking natural combinations.

Fact & Fun Fact:
Fuchsite is a chromium-rich variety of muscovite mica, a potassium aluminum silicate. The presence of chromium gives it its vivid green color. Fuchsite forms in metamorphic rocks and is known for its perfect basal cleavage, which allows it to split into thin, flexible sheets. It is named after the German chemist Johann Nepomuk von Fuchs.
