Prehnite with Epidote - Palm Stone
Prehnite with Epidote
Prehnite with Epidote is a natural mineral combination featuring soft green, translucent prehnite often accented by dark green to black needle-like epidote crystals. The contrast between the smooth prehnite and the sharp epidote inclusions creates a striking and layered appearance.
Because of its distinctive structure and attractive color contrast, Prehnite with Epidote is commonly used for polished stones, cabochons, collector specimens, and display pieces. Each specimen shows a unique distribution of epidote crystals embedded within the prehnite matrix.
✨ Fact & Fun Fact:
Prehnite is a calcium aluminum silicate mineral, while epidote is a calcium aluminum iron silicate. This mineral association forms in low- to medium-grade metamorphic environments and hydrothermal veins. Prehnite was first described in 1788 and named after Dutch Colonel Hendrik von Prehn — making it one of the first minerals named after a person. Notable sources include South Africa, Mali, China, and Australia.
