Pinolite is recognized for its striking contrast of light, pinecone-like patterns set against a dark gray to black background. The unique white and gray markings create a bold, graphic appearance that makes each piece visually distinctive.

Because of its strong pattern and durability, Pinolite is commonly used for polished stones, cabochons, carvings, and decorative objects. Each specimen displays naturally formed patterns that cannot be replicated.

Pinolite is a metamorphic rock composed mainly of magnesite, graphite, and dolomite. It was first discovered in Austria and is sometimes nicknamed the “pine stone” because its white patterns resemble pinecones or pine branches. Despite its name, Pinolite is not a single mineral but a rock made of several minerals.
