A szelénit a gipsz egyik átlátszó, csillogó formája, amely leggyakrabban fehér vagy áttetsző, selymes fényű megjelenéséről ismert. Nagyon népszerű a spirituális és ezoterikus körökben, mert úgy tartják, hogy nyugtató, tisztító és védelmező energiái vannak.
