Septaria

Septaria, also known as Septarian Nodule, is recognized for its distinctive cracked patterns filled with contrasting minerals. Its surface displays natural polygonal lines, often in shades of brown, yellow, and gray, creating a bold and ancient appearance.

Because of its unique structure and strong visual character, Septaria is commonly used for polished stones, spheres, carvings, and decorative specimens. Each piece features one-of-a-kind crack patterns formed naturally over millions of years.

Fact & Fun Fact:
Septaria is a concretion composed mainly of calcite, aragonite, and limestone (or mudstone). The cracks formed as the nodules shrank and dried millions of years ago, later filling with calcite. Many Septarian nodules date back to the Cretaceous period (around 50–70 million years ago). The name comes from the Latin septum, meaning “partition” or “crack.”
