Dreamcatcher
A dreamcatcher is a traditional handcrafted object that originates from the Ojibwe (Chippewa) people of North America. It was traditionally hung above sleeping areas to act as a protective symbol during sleep.
The design usually consists of a circular hoop with a woven web inside, often decorated with feathers, beads, and natural materials. Each element has symbolic meaning connected to protection, balance, and the flow of energy.
According to traditional belief, the web works as a filter for dreams. Unpleasant or negative dreams become caught in the web, while positive dreams pass through the center and travel down the feathers to the sleeper below. With the morning light, the trapped dreams disappear.
Dreamcatchers are now widely recognized as cultural and spiritual symbols, often associated with protection, mindfulness, and peaceful rest. Today they are also appreciated as decorative and symbolic objects inspired by traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
