Yooperlite

Yooperlite

Physical Information

Yooperlite is a type of fluorescent syenite rock containing sodalite, discovered along the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan, USA.
Although it appears as a grey or speckled stone in normal light, Yooperlite glows a bright orange or yellow under UV light due to the presence of fluorescent sodalite.
This unique glow effect has made it extremely popular among collectors since its discovery in 2017.
The stone has a sturdy, volcanic origin, with a texture similar to granite, and is composed mainly of feldspar, quartz, and sodalite-based minerals.
