Turquoise

Physical Information

Turquoise is a hydrated copper–aluminum phosphate mineral known for its iconic blue to blue-green colour.
Its vivid hues form from copper (which produces blue tones) and iron (which adds green tones).
Turquoise typically develops in arid, copper-rich regions where groundwater interacts with minerals over thousands of years.
It often shows natural matrix patterns — brown, black, or tan veining — created by the host rock.
Turquoise has a hardness of 5–6 and is relatively porous, which is why natural stones are sometimes stabilized to improve durability.
Major sources include the United States (Arizona, Nevada), Iran, Mexico, China, and Tibet.
High-quality turquoise has been prized for over 5,000 years in jewelry, amulets, and cultural artifacts.

Metaphysical Properties

Turquoise is associated with protection, wisdom, and clear communication.
Long regarded as a guardian stone, it is believed to shield the wearer from negativity and support emotional stability.
Its blue energy resonates with the throat chakra, encouraging honest expression, confidence, and speaking from the heart.
Many use Turquoise to soothe stress, balance mood, and strengthen intuition.
It is also a stone of friendship, harmony, and inner truth — promoting peace and spiritual alignment.
