Turquenite

Turquenite

Physical Information

Turquenite is the trade name for dyed Howlite, a naturally white calcium borosilicate mineral that is porous and ideal for absorbing colour.
Because genuine turquoise is rare and expensive, Howlite is often dyed blue to create Turquenite — a visually similar but compositionally different stone.
In its natural form, Howlite forms in nodules with grey veining, which remains visible even after dyeing, giving Turquenite its characteristic turquoise-like pattern.
The stone has a hardness of 3.5, a smooth texture, and is commonly used in jewelry, beads, carvings, and decorative items.
Major natural Howlite deposits are found in Canada, the USA, Mexico, and Turkey.

Metaphysical Properties

Turquenite carries the calming, grounding qualities of Howlite combined with the expressive, uplifting energy symbolized by its turquoise colour.
It is associated with stress relief, patience, and emotional balance.
Many use Turquenite to calm an overactive mind, support better sleep, and ease tension in daily life.
The blue colour energy is linked to the throat chakra, encouraging communication, honesty, and peaceful self-expression.
Turquenite is ideal for soothing emotions, reducing anxiety, and promoting clarity during difficult conversations.
