Tanzanite

Tanzanite

Physical Information

Tanzanite is a rare blue-to-violet variety of the mineral zoisite, discovered in 1967 and found exclusively in Tanzania, near Mount Kilimanjaro.
Its colour ranges from soft lavender to vivid sapphire-blue, depending on trace amounts of vanadium and the angle from which the crystal is viewed — a property known as pleochroism.
In its natural form, Tanzanite often appears brownish and is commonly heat-treated to bring out its signature blue-violet tones.
It forms in metamorphic environments and typically grows in prismatic crystals with a glassy luster.
With a Mohs hardness of 6–7, it is moderately durable and highly valued as a gemstone due to its rarity and vibrant colour.
Because the deposit is extremely limited, Tanzanite is considered one of the most precious modern gemstones.

Metaphysical Properties

Tanzanite is associated with intuition, higher consciousness, and spiritual transformation.
Its high-frequency energy supports deep meditation, inner vision, and connection with one’s higher self.
Many use Tanzanite to enhance psychic awareness, increase clarity of thought, and calm emotional overwhelm.
It is also believed to harmonize the heart, throat, and third-eye chakras — aiding communication, emotional honesty, and spiritual awakening.
A powerful stone for intuitive development, emotional healing, and aligning with one’s true path.
