It forms in metamorphic rocks such as marble and in certain igneous rocks where aluminum-rich minerals transform under heat and pressure.
Rubies may contain natural inclusions like rutile needles (“silk”) or dark mineral spots, which confirm authenticity and create unique internal patterns.
Major sources include Myanmar, Mozambique, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Madagascar.
