Physical Information
Andean Opal, also known as Peruvian Opal, is a common opal found mainly in the Andes Mountains of Peru.
Unlike precious opal, it does not display play-of-color. Instead, it forms in soft, translucent shades of blue, green, or pink, often with white streaks from silica inclusions.
It is a hydrated silica mineral with a relatively low hardness (5.5–6), meaning it should be handled gently.
Its calming colours come from trace elements and natural water content trapped inside the stone.
Metaphysical Properties
Andean Opal is associated with soothing emotional energy. It helps release stress, calm overthinking, and support honest communication. Often used for heart and throat chakra work, it encourages emotional healing, gentle expression, and a peaceful state of mind.
